HISTORY

CHEMONICS INTERNATIONAL/USAID
AgFair Director – Herat, Afghanistan. Summer/Fall, 2007. Responsible for the successful completion of the first
Herat exhibition involving joint participation of USAID with the The Afghanistan Ministry of Agriculture.  
Encompassed exhibitor and attendee marketing, venue management, logistics, personnel, security, VIP events,
sponsorships, signage, displays, maintenance, governmental interface, and business-to-business networking.
109 exhibitors participated and 20,000 visitors attended the four-day event.


GTSI
Director of Marketing Communications. Accountable for all marketing services for the largest reseller to the
federal government. Hands-on responsibility includes the development of marketing plans for co-op/MDF partners
such as SUN, Panasonic, HP, etc, and sell-in to account management and partner. Direction of external resources
and agencies in addition to extensive in-house writers, designers, Web masters, production managers, media &
traffic personnel, and trade show & events planners. Direct contributor as creative director and copywriter.


ACER AMERICA CORPORATION
Director of Marketing. The senior position managing the marketing functions in the Americas for the fourth largest
computer company in the world. Personally directed all marketing and public relations activities; a hands-on
contributor of creative direction and copywriting. Among the results is the highest scoring ad for an issue of PC
World, as measured by the publication. Web banners pulled comparably well on CNET and pcmagazine.com. In
addition, Acer received 17 Best Buy and Editors’ Choice awards in a 12-month period. The company garnered a
total of about four awards in the years prior. Managed all media negotiations and placements as well. Day-to-day
relationship/co-marketing management and interface with Microsoft, Intel and Intel Inside. Recruited and managed
the marketing staff. Resigned upon relocation to the east coast.


TANGENT COMPUTERS INC.  
Director of Marketing. Program management on behalf of Tangent Computer for the Intel Teach to the Future
project resulted in unit purchases more than double the eight other vendors combined, including HP and Acer,
accounting for 78% of all sales. Direct management of editorial relationships for the product review process
resulted in the listing of Tangent products in PC Magazine’s First Looks and the inclusion in PC World’s
charts for 22 of 23 months, including “Best Buy" accolades. Responsibilities encompassed product
and program marketing, advertising, public relations, promotions, Web content/development, and sales
management for the largest manufacturer of computers selling directly and exclusively to educational
institutions and state & local governments. Directed in-house creative, media and PR functions,
as well as strategic relationships with Microsoft, Intel, AMD and NVIDIA, among others,
yielding cooperative marketing programs targeted to K12, higher education, and government.
Creative director and copywriter for advertising and promotional materials.


NEC COMPUTERS INC.
Director of Marketing Communications. Bottom-line accountability for North American marketing
communications programs and personnel: Advertising, direct response, and Web content. Report directly
to the VP of Marketing including: strategic, conceptual, and production coordination with executive and product
line teams for launches and ongoing programs; and communication with internal sales and reseller channels
(distribution, catalog, direct, indirect, and on-line.) Oversight of agency relationships and internal creative staff.
Hands on management of strategic alliances including Microsoft and Intel. Coordination and management of
marketing communications budgets. Direction of in-house media purchasing: negotiation and placements – for
trade (PC Magazine, PC World, Information Week, etc.) and consumer publications (TIME, Business Week, etc.)
Left NEC to join Tangent Computers.


BUCKNER ADVERTISING
Principal. Management of all functions and personnel in a full service advertising agency.  
Also served as creative director, copywriter, and production consultant to other agencies in New York City.
Clients included Group I Software, National Guardian, ADP, Diners Club, MGM/United Artists,
NFL Sports, SONY, and Random House, among others.  Projects encompassed print advertising,
direct response, annual reports, collateral, public relations, etc.
